HOW TO ADD SIGNAGE TO THE FRONT OF YOUR TENT
To Circumvent the White Canopy Requirement
With prior approval, vendors can circumvent the white canopy requirement for this festival by putting a frame lashed to their canopy poles that supports a banner with their company name over the front entrance of their canopy.
You can purchase the conduit poles that make up this frame. These are sometimes called electrical conduit tubes; they are skinny metal pipes. The advantage of conduit is that it’s stiff, whereas similar-size PVC is not; it’s flexible. They are available at Loew’s and Home Depot.
I do not have pictures, but here are the specs:
You need (3) 10’ electrical conduit Tubes (poles) per tent
(Model# 0550010000 1/2 in. x 10 ft. Electrical Metallic Tubing (EMT) Conduit

You need (2) ½” conduit elbows per tent – Model# 94505 Halex 1/2 in. EMT/Rigid Pull Elbow
Note: not the ¾”, the ½,” these are actually sturdier/thicker

(7) 1 ft long Bungee Cords
(4) 1 ft long cable ties or rope
(1) banner – 9 ft, 7 inches wide
Procedure: allocate 15 – 20 minutes
Use (3) poles and (2) conduit elbows per tent. The most effortless setup is to connect them all in
front of the tent on the ground with the banner facing down. Then strap the banner with bungee
cords (face down) to the top pole tightly and then loosely attach the banner to the left and right
conduit poles with zip ties or rope. To raise the setup you will need two people. Then strap the
left/right poles to the left/right tent legs with at least 2 bungee cords or cable ties per leg. Finally,
tighten the left and right banner cable ties to tighten the banner (you might need a stool.
Benefits of this setup
1. The primary benefit is that using this setup circumvents the white tent requirement. You may
know that white tents age faster. They easily show yellowing, mildew, and wrinkles.
2. Using this setup will strengthen your tent and give it more wind resistance
3. You sometimes see vendors with a banner over the front of their tent, but it will sag in the
middle because it is not supported. This setup solves that problem. When you look down a
line of tents at a festival, there is nothing to identify or differentiate them. From a marketing
standpoint, this setup is a much better approach.
